Andrew Kovalev
His work has been featured in Forbes, Le Monde, Spiegel, Wine Spectator, and many other international outlets of notoriety.
Andrei’s photographic work presented at the Gallery draws inspiration from various aspects of Georgian rich and unique culture and tradition. From Orthodox monks to Georgian folklore and pagan mythology, including the fairytales of Dali and the ancient Georgian tradition of Berikaoba. Berikaoba involves improvised masquerade folk theater. It stems from the pagan festivity of fertility and rebirth. Andrew brings these traditions and myths to life with elaborate masks and set designs that he makes himself.
