Guram Tsibakhashvili is one of Georgia’s most important documentary and street photographers. His work spans several decades and has been published and exhibited widely.
Guram Tsibakhashvili was born in 1960 in Tbilisi. His street photography from the 1980s and 1990s has provided us with the definitive record of a country in transformation. During times of great difficulty and strict censorship in Georgia, Guram thought outside the box in comparison to the conventional ideas of post Soviet school of photography. But his work includes not only documentary photography; conceptual works also have a special place in Guram’s creativity.

Over the 40 years of his career as an artist, he was widely acclaimed and exhibited not only locally, but internationally as well. His work is remarkable in that he does not hesitate to experiment and is always open to innovation in the creative process.
